Made in Namibia
Terracotta
Measures approx. 8.5cm long
A year ago I was looking for some terracotta feet to lift my clay pots off my courtyard floor. I was disappointed by what was available – but luckily I have a studio, a kiln and bags of terracotta clay! And so I sat down and made the kinds of pot-plant feet that I wished existed. Their colour and form remind me of rooikat (caracal) paws.
A little while later, a friend from Namibia came for dinner in my courtyard and admired them. She knew of someone back home who could make them and several months later a few hundred arrived on our doorstep. They had copied them faithfully, right up to and including the way I had signed the first ones I had made. So while they are all signed, none of them are actually made by me.
