The Cape Willow Kitchen Towel

R250

The Cape Willow Pattern Kitchen Towel is part of a larger range at Chandler House that is centred around the early 18th century story of Maria and Titus of Bengal. The story is a long, tortured and ultimately heart-breaking one in which Titus, a slave, and his mistress Maria, are executed in the most awful way for murdering her husband – and for being lovers. Using the blue-print of the iconic English Willow Pattern, I have replaced the traditional ceramic symbols for local ones which help tell the story that took place here in the Cape many centuries ago.
