Chandler House is delighted to be exhibiting fresh, original work by the ceramic artist, Gemma Orkin. Well-loved for her naive, folk-art style of dishes, plates and bowls, we set Gemma the challenge of taking over our Voorkamer Gallery for the Spring month of September. Instead of turning our attention to the floral kingdom during these warming months (florals for Spring – ground breaking…), Gemma turned her eyes, hands and brushes towards the often over-looked world of bugs, butterflies and bees. In a changing world it’s becoming more and more apparent that much of our well-being directly depends on the health of insects in their many different ecosystems that weave their way around the world. We hope that this exhibition grants the weird and wonderful world of insects the attention that they deserve.
