Many years ago Kate Arthur moved to Cape Town and held a small exhibition of drawings and watercolours in our hallway. Since then Kate has gone on to exhibit at many other galleries, participate in international artist residencies, win the first and second place of the SANLAM Portrait Award and ultimately move from Cape Town to the Natal Midlands. It’s in the lush, green hills of KwaZulu-Natal that this body of work was created. Kate invites us into her world through her domestic drawings of the everyday. As we move through her home, we get glimpses of her life, as told through her gentle, pencil drawings.
