Lisa Strachan has been painting delicate, botanical paintings for decades, but recently she has taken a bright, bold step into new territory with this small exhibition of landscape paintings.
Strachan moved to Port Owen last August, and has taken full advantage of the nearby Berg River river by spending hours drifting upon the water in her kayak and other waterborne vessels. Inspired by the new, open views and with some distance from the banks of indigenous plants, Strachan began to see the world from afar, and in her latest exhibition, she shares this new fluvial perspective with us. We really love this the exhibition; it feels like a metaphor for Lisa as an artist. She is drifting into a new space both physically, domestically and artistically. She moves up and down the river with the tides, rains and natural cycles and then captures these moments when she is back on terra firma.
We look forward to seeing where the waters take her.
