“Begin the way you want to end” is something my mother would always say and so it seems fitting to see 2023 out with an exhibition by the same artist we entered it with. This exhibition of unframed, en plein air oil paintings are studies of familiar Cape Town views; both of her natural beauty as well as the urban fabric that fills the spaces between the mountains and the sea. These paintings serve not just as records of the city in the year 2023, but also as reminders of just how lucky we are to live in this beautiful place we affectionately call the Mother City.
