Gemma Orkin is a Cape Town-based South African ceramicist who comes from a family of artists and brings over 30 years of experience to her meticulous, hand-built craft. Gemma is loved all around the world for her distinctive, graphic ceramics. Her works are bold, colourful distillations of the objects she paints, capturing the charm of everyday life and nature with joyful simplicity and unmistakable warmth.

We are incredibly proud to say that Gemma is featured in our store in a variety of beautiful ways. She creates a wonderful array of bespoke ceramics for Chandler House, and her vibrant designs are so beloved that it made complete sense to translate them beyond clay. Today, her delightful artwork has blossomed across our homeware and stationery collections. You can find her vibrant creations printed on our beautiful kitchen tea towels, as well as on fun stickers and our lovely postcards, including our iconic, much-loved butterflies.
