Our Cape Willow Tray features a local take on the timeless English pottery design. This light-weight, yet durable, item is covered with illustrations by Michael Chandler – including gabled wine-farm homesteads, fertile vineyards, rolling Cape mountains, and ships drifting gently into Table Bay. These motifs form part of the true story of Maria Mouton and Titus of Bengal, who lived in the Cape during the early 18th Century. Their story is an important one, and something we think every South African should know about. We hope this design sparks conversation.
