Athena promised the Greeks the gift of the olive tree if they named their capital city after her – and so it comes as no surprise that we find Athens on a map instead of Poseidonville. Olive trees don’t just supply us with fruit, wood and shade; their oil lubricates many a delicious home-cooked meal. The world olive contains the word ‘live’ after all!
