Take a Bow

An Exhibition by Lisa Firer

I have been a fan of Lisa Firer’s exquisite work from the very first moment I saw them _YEARS_ ago. And so you can imagine my shock and complete delight when Lisa skipped up to me at the Rondebosch Potter’s Market to introduce herself as an admirer of the things I was doing down in Church Street. We clicked instantly and it wasn’t long until she was supplying us with her paper-fine porcelain vessels. Who can forget her amazing, technicolour range of ‘Weddingware’!? The stuff of dreams.

When COVID 19 caught us all unaware five years ago, it gave us all the chance to make some changes in our lives. I moved the shop up the road and Lisa decided to shift gears in her career; focusing on other interests, as well as exploring the extraordinary world of _nerikomi_ , albeit in a less functional, but more sculptural way. Since the sealing of her studio for that first ‘lock down’, her studio shelves have been carrying the weight of hundreds of vessels that have never quite made it out into the worm. They were waiting for the right moment and I’m delighted to say that moment is, now.

Lisa has, and continues to be, one the kindest, most positive and helpful people I know in the Cape Ceramic Ecosystem. So to be trusted with the last of her studio work is one of this year’s biggest blessings. We have all of her remaining Blue and White Vessels which you can find in the catalogue below. This is it folks – if you had one that broke, or always wanted one but never took the plunge: here is the opportunity to add one of Lisa’s works into your home.

We wish Lisa well for her new future, and we are terribly excited to see what her beautiful mind comes up with in the years ahead. Thank you Lisa! Go well!
